Teen Substance Abuse
Teen drug and alcohol experimentation and abuse is on the rise. For many adolescents and teens, substance use leads to serious consequences impacting their lives and the lives of the their loved ones.
These consequences can include:
Relationship and family troubles
Legal problems
Physical illness
Mental illness and suicide
Academic problems and underachievement
Social isolation and loss of friendships
Substance Abuse Evaluations
Substance abuse evaluations consist of a detailed personal history, thorough drug history, assessment of consequences of drug use, and the use of validated questionnaires including the Substance Abuse Subtle Screening Inventory (SASSI). Evaluations are followed by a written report that will include specific recommendations for follow up care or treatment. Parents may refer their children though these evaluations can also be used to accommodate school substance abuse policies and probationary requirements.
